Suzhou Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, a branch of South Korea’s Samsung Group, garnered the Award for Nomination of the 5th China Quality Award at the 6th China Quality Conference held in Nanjing, capital of East China’s Jiangsu province, on Sept 16. It is the second foreign-invested company in SIP to have received the highest quality award in China, the first being Bosch Auto Parts (Suzhou) Co Ltd, an automotive component manufacturing arm of German multinational Bosch.

The company won the award for its digital technology-based quality management mode which breaks down the information and data silos within the company, stakeholders and the supply chain to form an ecosystem enabling sharing and utilization of quality data throughout the industry and supply chains, thereby fostering collaborative success for all participants of the ecosystem. It sets an example for foreign-invested manufacturing companies to connect with partners across local industry and supply chains for quality guarantee.
Under this mode, the company has managed to reduce the defect rate of parts and components across the supply chain to 0.02%, maintain the first-pass yield of products above 99%, and increase the customer satisfaction to above 99%. Moreover, its quality-related costs have reduced by 30% and operating profit increased by 17.2%.
