A trademark infringement case handled by SIP Market Supervision Bureau (SIPMSB) was recently selected as one of Suzhou’s “Top 10 Typical Cases of Foreign-related Legal Construction in 2024”.
The case involved two Suzhou-based companies accused of recycling and refurbishing used Edwards vacuum pumps and selling them without authorization.
Acting on a tip from the rights holder—the British company Edwards Limited—in August 2023, SIPMSB conducted inspections of the companies’ warehouses and collected evidence including labels bearing the “Edwards” trademark. It also collaborated with the market regulator of Ningbo, a city in East China’s Zhejiang province, in tracing the buyers.
Statistics showed that the companies produced 27 sets of unauthorized “Edwards” labels, and sold and stored eight vacuum pumps worth RMB865,700, making illegal profits of more than RMB300,000.

After the conclusion of the case, Edwards Limited gave a thank-you banner to SIPMSB.
